A suspect is arrested in the shooting of two Ferguson Police officers and new tonight that man admits to firing a gun but says those officers were not his intended target. Good evening, everyone, im natasha brown. Those officers were wounded last week as a protest was winding down outside the Ferguson Police department. Cbs news correspondent Chris Van Cleve tells us how this manhunt came to an end. Reporter st. Louis county missouri prosecutors are charging 20yearold Jeffrey Williams with two counts of first Degree Assault for shooting two Police Officers during a protest in ferguson. He has acknowledged his participation in firing the shots. That in fact did he fire the shots that struck the two officers. Reporter prosecutors Robert Mccullough says williams claims he was involved in a dispute with someone else early thursday and was not targeting the police. Eyewitness news. Well police say williams had participated in demonstrations demonstrations on thursday before he shot the officers. Theyre investigating whether he acted alone in this case. Left and right of this center house here at 3571 brookview road. We are told that far one inside did make it out. But again there were people taken to the hospital. One of whom we are told is a firefighter. Now, neighbors here, on the scene, tell us that neither appear to be suffering any major injuries, perhaps smoke inhalation, that has not yet been confirm by fire officials here on the scene. But at this time, at this hour firefighters still combing through any hot spots they can find on this home. They are finding lot of smoke still at this hour inside the house. Damage in his home because of this fire. It broke out they say just before 1 45 this morning. They saw flames, and the backs of their homes and they all rushed outside there were two people, two adults in that center home there and two children who all escaped to safety outdoors. We are also told in the garage of their home a man was sleeping and pretty much had to fight and scream his way out of that garage, which is where we are told most of those flames were errupting when firefighters did arrive hereby 2 00. They had at least one transport to the hospital. Soon after that second transport was taken as well, one of which we now know was a firefighter, again we are told, their injuries are not severe. But we are awaiting official confirmation from officials here on the scene, about the extent of their injuries, back out live, we do know the red cross is assisting two adults, two children from that center home behind me here. Lights. And then, she said oh, my god i think there is a fire. I jumped up, look out, coy see the flames, and i yelled to her, call 911. And i ran and found my cell phone, i also called 911. I just thank god we all got out safe and sound. But nobody was hurt stuff we can replace but a life, something else. As you heard there relief this morning no major injuries to report, the red cross now assisting that family, living in that center home, two adult, two children, they also have their pet rescue, showing you house on the very end there we are told elderly woman lives there with member of her family. They will be okay. Once peco turns their lights back on, we understand, but the two homes nearest as fire, theyll be out of their homes for some time.
