The New Orleans City Council hears from city employees directly involved in an investigation into the mayor's mailers sent earlier this year to residents.
The New Orleans City Council on Thursday finished what it started four months ago by ending the longtime mayoral perk of free access to a city-owned luxury apartment, something it declined to do in April after the first controversy involving Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s personal use of the apartment.
The New Orleans City Council on Thursday formally asked state authorities to review whether Assessor Erroll Williams’ office properly conducted a recent citywide reassessment, recalling allegations of improprieties during the last quadrennial reassessment that Williams has long denied.
The measure, passed on Thursday (April 6), means that all existing residential permits will sunset at the end of August – regardless of the expiration date stated on the permit.
