We are expecting to see occasional showers through the day. Keep those umbrellas handy and jackets handy as well. South bay will see rain around lunchtime. Same thing for the trivalley. Thats going to change. We start with meteorologist anthony slaughter. Anthony, whats going on . We had showers and thunderstorms move through the area, especially parts of the extreme south bay earlier this evening. And now were waiting on another round of storms that are starting to develop off the coastline. And some of those are detecting some lightning strikes in them. The band that moved through earlier, gilroy, dumped about half the rain in short amount of time. Now were wait thong next round of thunderstorm activity to push through. And some of these cells overnight will produce some lightning and thunder. And for tomorrow morning, were also expecting very heavy rainfall for the morning commute. Keep in mind not only are we expecting rain, but some sierra snow, sierra travel alert. And Winter Weather advisory goes into effect through tuesday morning. So people are out on the roads and this rain comes gushing down and created some flash flooding especially on those elevated surfaces and those roads. So now the bulk of that heavy rain continues to move to the east most of the south and east bay, and to the hills. Were tracking some of that as it continues to move through just to the east of san jose. Were not seeing all the lightning strikes but still bright oranges indicating some heavy rain that will continue as we go into the next few minutes. Great news were not seeing the intense lightning, but theres still some rain moving into San Francisco right now as well as the north bay, approaching the east bay. Once again, not as intense. Dropping more rain into the bucket than what we had this morning. Most of us measuring anywhere from a quarter inch up to half of an inch of rain in a short period of time.
