SVAN | STARS AND STRIPES Published: March 9, 2021 A U.S. B-1B Lancer’s pit stop at Norway’s Bodo Air Force Station marked the first time the bomber landed inside the Arctic Circle, U.S. Air Force officials said. The jet is one of four B-1s deployed to Norway along with 200 airmen from the warmer climes of Dyess Air Force Base in Texas. The historic landing in the High North on Monday came during a busy day of flying in Norway and Sweden. The bomber flew with an escort of four Swedish JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft. It also trained, alongside U.S. special operations forces, with Norwegian and Swedish joint terminal attack controllers, U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa said in statement.

IRAN has summoned Turkeyâs Ambassador, Derya Ors, over the Turkish interior ministerâs âunacceptableâ claim about the presence of the Kurdistan Workersâ Party (PKK) militant group in the Islamic Republic.
The Turkish envoy was called in on Sunday and notified of the protest.
The development came after earlier the same day, Turkey had summoned the Iranian Ambassador, Mohammad Farazmand, over remarks alleging Ankara had violated Iraqâs sovereignty.
Farazmand was called in to Turkeyâs Foreign Ministry after Iranâs Ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, said Tehran opposed Turkish intervention in Iraq and the Kurdistan region.

Feb. 26 (UPI) B-1 bombers flew the first Bomber Task Force mission since deployment to Norway, the U.S. Air Force said on Friday, a show of force near Russian naval bases.
The two bombers arrived in Norway earlier this week. Support aircraft and over 200 Air Force personnel arrived at Orland Air Base, where Norway s F-35 fleet is also stationed, in the first week of February.
