The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the early hours of Wednesday invaded some private hotels of Kwara State University and arrested over 25 students for alleged cybercrimes. They were said to be from the Ilorin Zonal office of the commission. SaharaReporters learned that the anti-graft operatives seized cars, laptops and mobile phones belonging to students during the operation which took place at Malete in the Moro Local Government Area of the state.
A yet-to-be-ascertained number of students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) have been arrested by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a midnight raid of hostels outside the campus in the early hours of Wednesday, multiple sources have told SaharaReporters. SaharaReporters learnt that the operatives stormed students’ lodges around Orita Obele, Road block at about 2am, broke into rooms, and arrested the students.
