We are following some breaking news some breaking news in illinois. A manhunt underway after someone opens fire on Police Officers in the middle of the night. Sam sweeney is at the live desk with more. Autria two Chicago Police in Critical Condition this morning. They were sitting in thier cars when another car pulled up along side and unloaded on them. One officer was hit in the back, the other in the hip and leg. Investigators believe it was a high powered assualt rife. The officers were in one of the cities roughest areas conducting a follow up investigation. Police are questioning three people right, and have recovered a car and two guns. The officers were wearing thier vests and are expected to survive. Congress is expected pass a trillion dollar spending bill to keep the government open until september. This morning where dozens of buildings are too dangerous to enter and ryan, you mentioned that you did not feel these aftershocks. Reporter thats right, michelle. Were talking 70 [ pause ] reporter thats right, were talking 70 of these read tagged buildings. I didnt feel the aftershocks. But some neighbors have. They felt it. It was more faint, obviously, than sundays shaker but still, this is obviously bringing up some memories of what happened on sunday. So well get that reaction for you coming up at 6 30. But westbound 580 already up to it was saying 21 minutes. Now its about 19 minutes between the Altamont Pass and 680 but you can see the bulk of slow traffic before you hit vasco road. Bay bridge toll plaza, all clear even though on the other side of the bridge westbound 80 by fremont street there is a stalled box truck blocking one lane.
