Bruce, most Solar Energy Projects either involved people or businesses buying the equipment to turn sunlight into electricity or large projects financed by a utility. But this will be a True Community project with more than a thousand people buying shares of the output in exchange for utility bill credits running as long as 20 years. The city of cedar falls donated eight acres of land in the park for the Community Solar garden. The utility began selling the idea this summer and with more than enough people units work begins this fall. Crews will prepare the ground this fall and begin installing solar panels this winter.
