A LONGFORD charity has described the impact of the floods as ‘truly heartbreaking’. Amanda Gillespie, from the Roy Humphreys Centre, said the challenges of the disaster were stacked on top of the pressures of the lockdown with some people struggling to get by as it was. The Roy Humphreys Centre in Sandy Lane offers a place where people can find assistance with issues such as money, health and housing. That network of contacts put the team in a good position to mobilise help when Storm Christoph hit Warrington hard. Amanda said: “We were already supporting people with wellbeing, access to affordable or free food and children’s lunches and were supporting people who are isolated, shielding and vulnerable.
