Oregon Brewers Festival cancels for 2nd consecutive year because of COVID-19

Oregon Brewers Festival cancels for 2nd consecutive year because of COVID-19 Updated Mar 03, 2021; Facebook Share The Oregon Brewers Festival has been canceled for the second consecutive year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Art Larrance, who founded the festival in 1988, said the decision was made Monday night to skip a second year because, despite virus numbers dropping and vaccines becoming more available, there isn’t enough time to get the event organized. Portland’s signature gathering of craft breweries has grown to become one of the largest on the West Coast, attracting over 50,000 attendees annually. “The brewers need time to get their brews lined up, and all the people that help us need to make their schedules,” Larrance said. “You’ve got to plan way out in advance. You just don’t go put one together in one day.”

Pamplin Media Group - Bits & Pieces: Francis, Wu play their part in A Long Distance Affair

February 08 2021 A Long Distance Affair Tracy Francis of Boom Arts and local actor Barbie Wu are involved in A Long Distance Affair, a Zoom immersive play as part of a series that started before the COVID-19 pandemic. Through 10-minute plays, held Feb. 11-21, the audience learns about people from around the world; the latest version features 18 artists from Portland, Beirut (Lebanon), Lagos (Nigeria), Mumbai (India), Los Angeles and Mexico City. It s produced by Juggerknot Theatre Company ( Miami Motel Stories ) and PopUp Theatrics. Francis directs the Beirut play, about a dance class and connection, and the Portland play, which fittingly is a sci-fi piece about protest and unrest and a woman stuck in a time loop (in which the old version kills the young version).
