The McDonough County Voice
If you ve ever driven on an out of town trip, with your car radio on in the early evening, you may have heard the voice of Delilah. She has been described as the most listened-to woman on radio in the United States.
I first began listening to Delilah s syndicated radio show while driving back and forth to Springfield once a week to take graduate courses. She provides a soothing voice and plays rock and roll romantic songs. Her publicist Aaron Crisler wrote this week that some refer to her as the queen of sappy love songs.

REEDSPORT, Oreg. (July 1, 2021) – Delilah, the queen of sappy love songs has purchased the radio station where it all began – KDUN AM in Reedsport, Oregon. The beloved radio personality made the announcement today.
When Delilah was in middle school, she entered a speech contest at the school she attended in a tiny coastal hamlet, Reedsport Oregon. She won the speech contest, reciting the “Gettysburg Address” by Abraham Lincoln. It turns out, the contest was being judged in part by two brothers, Jerome and Steve Kenegy. Hybrid beachgrass could mean trouble for Northwest coast

SALEM, Ore. (AP) Scientists at Oregon State University have confirmed that two widespread, invasive beachgrasses are now genetically mixing, which could present additional challenges to communities and Pacific Northwest dune restoration.
Oregon Public Broadcasting reports before the introduction of European and American beachgrass, there was far more open sand on the Oregon and Washington coasts. Where it as present, native vegetation promoted lower dunes that tended to shift and morph.
“The non-native grasses out-compete some of the native non-grass – like the herbs and the forbs (flowering herbaceous plants) that were part of our system 150 years ago. There are efforts to try to restore dunes back to that native state,” said OSU coastal ecologist Sally Hacker.
