“We have seen a significant propensity for criminal suspects to elude traffic stops, often driving extremely dangerously despite no officers chasing them,” the Bureau said in a statement.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler in August asked Kotek to send nearly 100 state troopers to downtown Portland, to assist a city police force that says it is stretched too thin.
The policy requires officers to turn their cameras on whenever they’re dispatched to a call. The cameras also automatically begin recording whenever officers draw their weapons or activate their vehicle’s emergency lights.
“Mountain rescue is a technical endeavor that requires numerous skilled rescuers, experienced sheriff’s deputies, coordinated leadership, and dedication. Mt. Hood is not a beginner mountain especially in winter conditions," PMR said.
