Today is the tenth anniversary of death of the pop legend Mahbubul Haque Khan, popularly known as Azam Khan.
Born on February 28, 1950, Azam Khan was one of the pioneers of pop music in Bangladesh. He is often referred to as the Pop Guru. He rose to prominence in 1972 after he along with his peers founded the band Uchcharan. Azam Khan was the vocalist of the band.
He made his formal concert debut at a programme held at Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1972. He also performed on BTV for the first time in the same year.
