five hours this active shooter situation in colorado springs on a cold, snowy night there. it s just past 5:30 in the evening there mountain time and we can tell you, as we just heard from police there, they got their guy. they got the suspect after now 11 people in this whole shooting situation have been injured and taken to local hospitals. we know that they got out alive as well. you can see somebody being walked into a patrol car handcuffed. they were able to shout with the suspect who was in this planned parenthood clinic. why he did this, how many people were inside that clinic, all of those details are still unknown. right now it s still considered a crime scene so they have explosive ordinance units going room to room to room to determine, a, what these bags that this individual carried in there, what he brought in and if
sort due to the loudness of it in the snow and everything. reporter: the standoff played out for more than five hours, the surrounding area put on lockdown. police didn t know the suspect s name and had difficulty making contact with him. they were concerned he brought in explosive devices. then a dramatic announcement from the colorado springs police. and the officers were able to shout to the suspect and make communication with him and at that point, they were able to get him to surrenderer. reporter: a man was seen in handcuffs, it s not clear if he was the suspect. the main security threat tonight. the individual brought some items into him, into the building with him and that we have to work with our eod units, explosive ordinance units. reporter: police say the suspect brought the items in bags and something was left in the front of the building. city officials in colorado springs say this is now what they call a huge crime scene. they don t know exactly how many
