Wayne City High School has announced that Madeline Boyd is the Wayne City High School Senior of the Month for January. Madeline is the daughter of Misty and Heath Boyd. She is involved in FCCLA, serving as their community event coordinator. She is also involved with Red Ribbon Team, Student Council, Apologetix, Journalism as the editor, History Club, Beta Club as their president, and Honor Society. Outside of school, she is involved with her youth group at Orchardville Church, works at Sweeties and Fusion. Madeline plans on studying business in college.

Lela Rogers, 76, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in Lake Wales, Florida, near where she and her husband had enjoyed spending recent winters. A celebration of the life of Lela Rogers of Xenia, who passed away last fall, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Orchardville Church in Orchardville. Visitation among family and friends will follow at the church in addition to one of Lela's favorite things: ice cream. Guests are invited to dress casually as they come to celebrate Lela's life. Early voting is underway at the Wayne County Courthouse, and County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow said, as of this morning, 46 people had either requested a mail-in ballot or had voted early. She says voter turnout was 13 percent in 2019, and she hopes to have a much better turnout this year with so many seats being contested, including many road commissioners, school boards, and Fairfield and Cisne mayors.
According to a Facebook post, Fairfield Printing and Graphics is officially closed and will not take any orders, answer phone calls, or answer emails. The shop will have a going out of business sale tomorrow and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and sales will be cash-only and final.
