Volkswagen believes it needs more SUVs in its range in China, so they have just unveiled another one. It’s called the Talagon and it is their biggest high-rider yet, but it is strictly limited to the Chinese market.
Sitting under the spotlight at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the Talagon has FAW-VW behind it and was previewed by the SMV Concept two years ago, featuring a slightly updated design and retaining its overall footprint.
At 5,152 mm (202.8 in) long, 2,002 mm (78.8 in) wide and 1,795 mm (70.7 in) tall, VW’s biggest SUV yet is 112 mm (4.4 in) longer, 12 mm (0.5 in) wider and 15 mm (0.6 in) taller than the Atlas, which is also sold in China as the Teramont. The two models have an identical wheelbase length, at 2,980 mm (117.3 in), which is impressive, to say the least, considering that the Talagon is based on the MQB Evo platform, which is the foundation stone of the VW Group’s compact cars, such as the new Golf, Skoda Octavia, Seat Leon and Audi A3.
