The Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) has applied for a permit to protest in response to the Government’s handling of the case of Minister Andre Perez, now on leave of absence following the uncovering of an inappropriate relationship with an attorney.

It is the Belize Police Department, not Cabinet and the Attorney General, who "must proceed with a thorough independent criminal investigation into an allegation of rape made against PUP minister Andre Perez," the Opposition United Democratic Party opines via press release. (It should be noted for the record that no formal complaint has been made to Police at this stage as the known complainant is out of the country although Minister Perez has made complaints of his own.)
The Government Minister accused of sexually harassing a female attorney by text and with explicit images has been identified as Minister of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Andre Perez. Now, the Opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) is ramping up the pressure to see Perez dismissed, especially considering that Prime Minister John Briceño was allegedly notified and has not yet taken any action.
