Brewery owner claims SeedPod will be amazing asset for food and drink sector

© Opportunity North East Plans for SeedPod were approved earlier this week. Aberdeen’s new SeedPod food and drink hub will be an “amazing asset” for the industry in the north-east, according to a leading brewery owner. The £21 million development, which was given the green light by councillors yesterday, aims to play a pivotal role in boosting the region’s green economic recovery as we emerge from the coronavirus crisis. Led by Opportunity North East (One), the project is expected to bring a major boost to the area and will help those businesses, which are only just starting to find their feet, to become more sustainable.

The Future Skills Partnership, spearheaded by Opportunity North East (ONE), aims to help the region keep pace with the country’s other major cities in digital maturity and adoption. The Aberdeen University, Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College have partnered with Code Clan, The Data Lab and Skills Development Scotland to launch a web portal providing individuals looking to further their digital education with a single source for information and advice on all the courses available.

Plans to create a £21m development hub in Aberdeen to grow the food and drink sector have been lodged with the local authority. Led by Opportunity North East (ONE), SeedPod aims to put the north-east’s manufacturing and processing businesses at the forefront of innovation, productivity and sustainability. It is hoped it will increase high-value exports and create new jobs, as well as play a key role in green economic recovery and help businesses deliver on net-zero goals.
