Pipe bombs, gun power, ammunition and drugs seized by Gardaí in Drogheda

LMFM By Ruth O Connell & Simon Doyle Two pipe bombs, gun powder, and large quantity of firearms ammunition have been seized in Drogheda. Gardaí attached to the Louth Divisional Drugs Unit, carried out a search of a house in the Rosevale area of the town at around 11pm yesterday. They located the pipe bombs, gun powder, and the ammunition, while also seizing €1,100 worth of suspected cocaine along with €500 worth of suspected Alprazolam tablets. Two men, one in his early-40s and another in his mid-50s, were arrested. They are currently being held for questioning at Drogheda Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

Pipe bombs, ammunition and drugs seized in Drogheda Updated / Friday, 23 Apr 2021 10:44 North-East Correspondent Gardaí investigating the activities of an organised criminal gang in Drogheda have seized two pipe bombs, gun powder, and a large quantity of ammunition. Officers from the Louth Divisional Drugs Unit made the discovery during the course of a search of a house in the town yesterday morning. Gardaí also found cocaine worth around €1,100 along, with €500 worth of suspected Alprazolam tablets. The army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team removed the two improvised explosive devices and other material believed to be used in the manufacture of explosives for further detailed examination.

GardaÃ investigating organised crime in Drogheda, Co Louth, where a gang feud has claimed four lives in the past three years, were forced to evacuate residents from their homes on a street in the town late on Thursday night after an explosives manufacturing facility was discovered in a nearby house. GardaÃ seized an arsenal of weapons and a quantity of drugs, with the Army called in to clear the scene due to the danger posed by the explosive material found. The people who had to be evacuated spent most of the night out of their homes while the house was searched and cleared.
