Sawnee EMC’s Operation Round Up gives away over $26,000 to local charities and projects Sawnee EMC will be distributing over $26,000 to local charities and projects in Dawson and other surrounding counties through its Operation Round Up program, according to a press release by the organization.  “The Foundation Board approved $22,829 for local charitable organizations and $4,288.03 for its Bright Ideas teachers grants,” the release said.  The organizations that received money from the program include the Good Shepherd Clinic of Dawson County and K.A.R.E. for Kids, as well as For Her Glory, Families of Children Under Stress and Mentor Me North Georgia. Several schools also  received Bright Ideas grants through the program, including Black’s Mill Elementary School in Dawson County. 

Spoon River Electric s Operation Round Up donates to area food pantries

Canton Daily Ledger The Spoon River Electric Operation Round Up Committee recently donated $2,500 to five of the local food pantries within their service territory and $1,500 to the VIT High School Science Lab. Pantries receiving donations include; the Cuba Food Pantry, 1st Baptist Church of Canton Food Pantry, St. Mary’s Food Pantry of Canton, Glasford United Methodist Church Food Pantry, and the Bushnell Area Ministerial Association Food Pantry. The Spoon River Electric Operation Round Up Committee has been very fortunate to continue donating to local organizations and food pantries throughout the service territory. They hope to be able to visit all of their organizations again soon!
