Edo Government Takes Beggars, Mentally-ill Persons, Others Off Benin City Streets For Rehabilitation, Reunification With Family Members

The Edo State Government has commenced the evacuation of street beggars, mentally-challenged persons and other destitute persons from major streets and markets within the Benin metropolis, the state capital. The state government said it would also rehabilitate those taken off the streets, adding that the programme is being implemented by the State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, in partnership with various security agencies, in line with its 'Operation Plan Edo.'
