The first episode delves into Veerappan s journey from from an ordinary village boy to an elephant poacher and sandalwood smuggler who was called the forest king. The Hunt for Veerappan strings together the accounts shared by Muthu Lakshmi, Sunaad, BK Singh, STF officer Tiger Ashok Kumar supplemented with photographs, videos and audio cassettes playing messages from Veerappan.
Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Apoorva Bakshi, the documentary takes its audience to the past to introduce them to one of India’s most notorious criminals Veerappan. Known as “The Robinhood of India”, Veerappan rose to prominence by holding two states Tamil Nadu and Karnataka at ransom.
Koose Munisamy Veerappan, a dreaded poacher, who once operated from the dense forests of South India, single-handedly held Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to ransom for close to a decade.
