Cross River Gov t demolishes suspected kidnapper s building

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the buildings situated in Calabar were demolished by the state security outfit, Operation Akpakwu. The outfit is made up of the navy, air force, police, army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and special advisers to the state government on security. Mr Henry Okokon, the state Security Adviser to Gov. Ben Ayade (Southern Senatorial District), said after the exercise that it was one of the ways of chasing criminals out of the state. Okokon said that the state government placed premium on security of lives and property, hence, the need to fight all forms of criminality.

The State Security Adviser to governor Ben Ayade , ( South) , Henry Okokon gave the warning shortly after Operation Akpakwu ,a new security outfit  demolished  houses  owned by suspected  Kidnapers, child trafficking. Vanguard learned that children under 14 years of age were used as child Prostitutes while others were pimped out as modern day “slaves ” in some of the facility’s where they carried out their various illicit trade .

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State had set up the anti-robbery squad on December 3, 2020, in the wake of incessant cases of robbery, kidnapping for ransom and several forms of criminality ravaging the calm and peaceful identity that the state is known for. The arms factory was discovered at Uyanga, Akamkpa local government area of the state, about 58.5KM away from Calabar, the state capital.
