The Spanish rescue organization Open Arms’ sailing boat Astral set out on its 91st mission earlier this week. Already, it has located more than 100 migrants and transferred them to the Italian coast guard’s care.
A doctor who carried out an inspection aboard the Open Arms in August 2019 has testified in court. Former Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini is currently facing kidnapping charges over refusing to let the rescue ship disembark in Italy.

It was a busy weekend in the central Mediterranean. The Spanish rescue organization Open Arms said that it had picked up 146 migrants in two separate rescue operations. Meanwhile, the Tunisian navy said that it had picked up 25 from a shipwreck, with one person confirmed dead and about 22 missing.
On Friday evening (February 12) the Spanish rescue organziation Open Arms said its rescue ship picked up 40 migrants after many hours of searching and encounters with a Libyan patrol boat.
It happened last night #Med Rafel and his 3-month-old baby Moez, were rescued together with 38 more people in a flimsy boat on the high seas.
