Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): The first Open Futsal Tournament organised by the Western Sumi Sports Association (WSSA) was held on September 22 and 23 at Junkyard Turf, Padumpukhuri. WSSA in an update informed that Proper 5 emerged champions and won cash prize of INR 1 lakh while Native Feathers who won the second position bagged INR 50,000. The best goalkeeper award went to Khaozang of Proper 5 who won cash prize of INR 5,000. Founder & Chair YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu, who graced the valedictory programme as special guest, in her address said sports help build leadership skills in terms of organising capacities, team work, better communication skills and focus, which are critical in capacity building of a child. She also expressed optimism that with the coach training programme under WSSA by friend Bhaichung Bhutia and Renedy, western Sumis have bright prospects in the field of football.
