A name that has been circulated in the Sturgis community for many years, Bruce McFarland recently celebrated his 72nd birthday and his retirement. February 17th 2021 was also recognized as Bruce McFarland Day in Sturgis.

Bruce McFarland, Retired Insurance Agent, says, “Well I think that’s a foundation and it’s not only a matter of being able to interact with those people, but to get to know them and then have them pour into my life too.”
The City of Sturgis recently recognized him with a celebration, not only for his birthday, but also for his retirement after 36 years as a local insurance agent and recognizing that February 17 in Sturgis is now Bruce McFarland Day.

More than 60 years ago, Paul and Margaret Hebbert started singing Southern gospel music with another couple from their church.
Later joined by their children Tim, Matt and Kim âFritzâ (Marietta), the style created by Paul and Margaret is now into its third generation. The Hebbert familyâs musical legacy has impacted lives as the family has performed in churches, auditoriums and other various venues over the years. Some concertgoers feel as if itâs not a complete performance until âHow Great Thou Artâ has been sung.
Paul felt called to the ministry at Open Bible Church in Casper, Wyoming, so he and his brother George went to the College of the Open Bible in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1952. While he was there, he was sent to a small church nearby, where he met Margaret, who had been called in to play piano that night.
Sando residents want court to stop church from building school

San Fernando residents are moving to file an injunction to stop the Open Bible Church from erecting a three-storey building behind their homes.
The building is supposed to house the Open Bible High School, a private school which has been in existence for over 60 years.
But residents of Ramsaran Street and Mentor Streets told Guardian Media that construction started without any consultation a mere two metres from their homes. This has caused structural defects in their homes.
