38 COVID-19 cases drive PHU past 1,000 - My Timmins Now

The Porcupine Health Unit has surpassed the 1,000 COVID-19 case mark. Thirty-eight new cases confirmed today put the running total at 1,010. Twenty of the new cases are in Timmins. Eleven are on the coast; five in the area between Smooth Rock Falls and Matheson; and one each in the Hearst-Hornepayne area and between Fauquier and Opasatika. BY THE NUMBERS

23 more COVID-19 cases in region lead to tighter visitor rules at TADH SHARE ON: Another 23 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the territory covered by the Porcupine Health Unit.  As usual lately, Timmins leads the way, with 15 of them in the city. Six are in the health unit-defined “area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls”. One is in a coastal community and the other somewhere between Fauquier (FOH-key-ay) and Opasatika (OH-pah-SAT-ih-kah). They bring the running total to 879 cases. More details on active cases are expected on Monday. Meanwhile, amid the increased pressure on Timmins and District Hospital, it is tightening restrictions on visitors. As of Saturday afternoon, TADH had ten patients with COVID-19.
