HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Major cleanup efforts are underway in Windward Oahu and the North Shore after torrential rains and flooding this week swamped communities, sending fast-moving floodwaters into homes and burying properties under several feet of debris.
The governor and Honoluluâs mayor surveyed flood-damaged communities on Wednesday afternoon and pledged a quick government response. The governor has declared a state of emergency following days of flooding across the state; the mayor has also signed an emergency declaration.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The severe weather that has drenched the state all week continued Saturday, with more bands of heavy showers making their way over the island chain.
The National Weather Services has expired the flash flood warning for Maui until 2:30 p.m.
At around 8 a.m., heavy showers moved east at about 15 mph over central Maui. NWS said the rain was widespread, with rain coming down at a rate of about 2 to 3 inches an hour from Spreckelsville to Huelo.
Emergency management reported that major highways were blocked due to landslides.

On Tuesday, Democratic Gov. David Ige issued an emergency declaration over the counties of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Kalawao, noting that Maui County s Peahi Bridge was washed out and Kaupakalua Bridge had been displaced.
