The Inspector General of Police (IG) Kayode Egbetokun and the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Abiodun Oyebanji have been asked to as a matter of urgency, establish police stations in communities where traditional rulers were recently killed. A pan-Yoruba group, Alliance of Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), also called for the immediate recruitment of indigenes of affected communities into the police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Amotekun for effective policing of the area.

The Oodua Nationalist Coalition (ONAC) said the people of the South West are disturbed that contracts for the protection of pipelines in the Ijawland were given to indigenous companies in the area while the protection of pipelines in the South West area had been given to companies not indigenous to the region.

AYDM is a coalition of 121 pan-Yoruba civil society and artisan groups spread across Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Edo AYDM in a statement jointly signed by its General Secretary, Popoola Ajayi and Organising Secretary, Chief Kunle Oshodi, stressed that the Obidients’ criticisms are driven by a blind rage and fury with neither logic, reason nor common sense.
