The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made huge seizures of cocaine and heroin with street value of over N30 billion in Lagos State.
The drugs were intercepted in three major busts carried out at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport between January 24 and January 27, 2021.
The agency said in a statement on Tuesday, February 2, that one of the busts was the biggest single seizure from an individual in the past 15 years.
A female passenger,
Onyejegbu Ifesinachi Jennifer, was intercepted by NDLEA operatives when she landed at the airport from Sao Paulo, Brazil on January 27.
A thorough search of the 33-year-old s two travel bags revealed 26.850 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside 16 pieces of duvet.

Barely one week after the new Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa vowed to dismantle drug trafficking cartels across Nigeria, the agency has made huge seizures of cocaine and heroin, with street values worth over N30b at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
One of the seizures, 26.840 kilogrammes of cocaine, is the biggest single seizure from an individual in the past 15 years. According to a top official of the agency, “On January 27, 2021, at about 1320hours, during the inward clearance of Ethiopian Airline passengers at the E- arrival hall of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, a female passenger, by name Onyejegbu Ifesinachi Jennifer, 33 years, who arrived Nigeria from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa, was intercepted by NDLEA operatives.

Drug substances tested positive for cocaine worth N21bn have been recovered from a hairstylist, Jennifer Onyejegbu, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
It was learnt that the officials discovered another drug later confirmed to be cocaine worth N7bn in luggage abandoned at the E-arrival hall of the airport after the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian airline.
“Based on information on the luggage tag, the luggage arrived in Nigeria from Sao Paulo, Brazil, a destination classified as high-risk country going by records and trends of arrest and seizures.

Cocaine and heroin packages with street value of N30 billion were discovered at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos.
One of the seizures, 26.840 kilograms of cocaine, is the biggest from an individual in the past 15 years.
A top NDLEA official gave the details to the press at the weekend.
The brief disclosed that on January 27 at about 1:20pm during the inward clearance of Ethiopian Airlines passengers, a female passenger, Onyejegbu Ifesinachi Jennifer, 33, from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa, was intercepted.
The suspect, who is a hairstylist and based in Brazil, was interviewed and she confessed to having agreed to smuggle the hard drug for the sum of N2 million.
