Tens of thousands of Ontario civil servants will get salary increases totalling nearly 10 per cent following wage renegotiation prompted by the province’s wage-cap law being ruled unconstitutional.
Ontario public servants have won additional pay increases of 6.5 per cent the latest in a series of retroactive pay decisions for workers affected by a wage restraint law that was found unconstitutional.
Civil servants working for the Ontario government have been awarded backpay for the years their wages were frozen by Bill 124. The union says it is the highest increase since 2012.
