In a report submitted to NGT on November 20, DDA said it had paved a 380-metre stretch in the area. While 330-metre-stretch has been paved with bituminous concrete, the remaining 50 metres with cement concrete, it added.
While work related to the construction of flyovers is allowed, the ban on drilling, boring and excavation has defeated the whole purpose of the exemptions, contractors said.
Delhi’s State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) has decided to check the compliance status of all projects which have been granted an environmental clearance (EC) in the city in the last two years. Non-compliance of norms would impact Delhi’s air quality as construction sites may add to the dust pollution.
