The preferred candidate of Governor Yahaya Bello is currently losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election by a wide margin, officials informed SaharaReporters on Friday evening. The governor’s anointed candidate, who is also the Auditor-General of the state, Ahmed Ododo, is losing the primary to Muri Ajaka who has won 14 local government areas, according to verified results. SaharaReporters learnt that the governor is however fighting hard to ensure that his candidate is declared as the winner.
The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja and the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Mohammed Abdulkareem Asuku, have withdrawn from the governorship race. This comes ahead of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Kogi State scheduled for Friday. Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello has endorsed the Auditor-General of the state, Ahmed Ododo, as his preferred candidate. This was announced at the stakeholders' meeting of the party held on Thursday in Lokoja.
