For the second consecutive year, The Vermont Country Store has been ranked first in the Universal Provider category in the Best of Online Shops 2023 ratings compiled by Newsweek. The Vermont-based business, now in its third generation of ownership by the Orton family, placed ahead of household names like Amazon, WalMart, Target and Macy’s. Estonia is missing out on €145 million in VAT from foreign online shops every year. This is caused by insufficient legislation that, among other things, does not obligate the Tax and Customs Board (MTA) to compare foreign e-shops' declared VAT info to that of the Bank of Estonia.
