The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles recently announced applications for the 2021 Low Number Plate Lottery are now being accepted online using the Online Service Center.
Applicants must apply by Aug. 27, and if selected for a low number plate, will be notified after the virtual drawing takes place on Sept. 8.
This year, there are 200 plates available through the low plate lottery. Some of this year’s low plate characters are 210, 2762, 1H, 24L, F1, J25 and X25. The complete list is online at http://Mass.Gov/RMV.

Slick road conditions on Tuesday prompted Massachusetts transportation and registry officials to reduce the speed limit to 40 m.p.h. on one stretch of the Mass. Turnpike and cancel afternoon road tests for drivers seeking licenses in certain parts of the state, officials said.
Via Twitter, MassDOT confirmed the speed limit reduction, which followed two separate tractor trailer crashes Tuesday morning in Russell and West Stockbridge.
“UPDATE: Speed reduction to 40 mph and no special permitted vehicles/tandems/tankers has been extended from N.Y. state border to mile marker 117 in #Framingham on I-90,” MassDot tweeted at 1:14 p.m. The agency eventually ended the speed restriction just before 7 p.m.
