you are watching bbc news. thank you very much forjoining me. you can reach me on twitter i m @monikaplaha hello. well, it certainly doesn t look like you ll need your umbrella this weekend, but then again, it s not going to be all that sunny. in fact, often cloudy, both on saturday and sunday. but i am confident a few sunny spells will develop during the course of the day. but take a look at that shield of cloud spreading off the atlantic right across the uk. this is also quite mild air, which is riding around an area of high pressure that has established itself across a large chunk of europe. but around this high we ve got that wind blowing and it s pushing in the milder atmosphere towards us. so this air mass, mild air mass will be in place across the uk through the course of the weekend and into the week ahead.
you can reach me on twitter i m @monikaplaha hello, there. the next few days are looking fairly unsettled through the run up to christmas. we ll keep low pressure nearby, so i think large parts of the country will see rain at times, a bit of sunshine here and there, and it will be mild in the south, but it ll start to turn colder across northern areas. you can see this conveyor system of low pressure pushing up from the southwest, bringing in bands of rain, followed by sunshine and showers. and our air mass coming in from the southwest off the atlantic will always be warmer, certainly across the south of the country. colder air, though, will start to tuck in across the north, as we move through the next few days. for thursday, looks like it will be colder across northern scotland breezy with a few showers, but quite a bit of sunshine for scotland, northern ireland, the far north of england. england and wales, though, rather

i m @monikaplaha hello. we started november with temperatures above average for the time of year and some very wet and windy weather. we re going to start december with temperatures nudging below average and the weather becoming increasingly settled. why the difference? well, recently it s all been about these areas of low pressure piling in from the atlantic. and this one looks like it s got good intentions to try and do the same thing through tuesday, but it will get the brakes put on it through the middle of the week by that high extending across from the east. it s quite a slow progression for the high. itjust builds gradually day on day, but by the weekend it becomes properly established across us and by then it will tap us into some much colder air. we ve seen temperatures across russia recently well below average and that colder air will come across towards scandinavia, then the uk. first thing tuesday, on the chilly side, many of us
