Plans have been resubmitted to build nine two-bedroom apartments on the Ongar Bridge car dealership site in Ongar High Street. Ongar Town Council has repeated its objections to the proposals citing a lack of provided parking and environmental worries. The town council s planning and environment committee has underlined its previous comments made about the plans which were rejected by Epping Forest District Council last October.

The container – which 3Food4U will use for the foreseeable future – will be sited at Jubilee Park, Love Lane, Ongar. When it is no longer required by the charity it will be offered to the Ongar Community Sports Trust which manages the Jubilee Park facilities. Councillors at Thursday s town council meeting agreed to spend up to £2,000 on the purchase and siting of the container, subject to planning approval being granted.

Volunteer John Fox with Sylivia and Brian Dilloway and donations from Good Companions Organisers of a community project helping those in need during the pandemic have been able to reflect on a successful month since launching its latest hub in Ongar at Zinc Art Centre. The 3Food4U charity has seen the number of families using the non-judgmental and non-assessed service rise every week as word has spread. The hub has also been visited by Brentwood and Ongar MP Alex Burghart and North Weald councillor Jaymey McIvor. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers and generosity of our community for helping to make it happen. The social distancing measures in place were so impressive and many people commented on how safe and comfortable they felt.
