Last year, OnePlus announced some pretty dramatic changes that were in line for the OnePlus 9 series and future device launches. Part of this had to do with OnePlus being essentially merged with Oppo, as OnePlus announced the new "Unified OS Codebase" that integrated OxygenOS into ColorOS. However, the decision was not only met with backlash from the community but the implementation was simply unacceptable. Bugs constantly wreaked havoc, even for those who participated in the beta program launched last year. Now, along with the announcement of the OnePlus 10 Pro's expanded launch, OnePlus has announced some major changes coming to OxygenOS. Here's what OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau had to say in a post on the OnePlus Forums: Back in September, we announced the codebase for both OxygenOS and ColorOS would merge with the goal of creating one unified and upgraded operating system for both brands globally. While many Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners continue to await the arrival of the December Android security patch, another non-Pixel phone is being updated with it. This time, OnePlus has started rolling out the patch to owners of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Samsung isn't the only company that is struggling with its rollout of the Android 12 update. OnePlus is in the same boat, but arguably, has been dealing with less frustrating issues. After the OxygenOS 12 update started arriving, some found that it was easier to just perform a factory reset without importing previously-created backups. The list of issues continued to grow, forcing OnePlus to actually pull the update entirely. While the company didn't provide a timeline as to when OxygenOS 12 would become available again, it was pretty quick in fixing any of the bugs that appeared. Earlier today, a post on the OnePlus Forums confirmed that the OyxgenOS 12 update is now rolling out, complete with a new build number (C.39) and bringing with it a slew of bug fixes. Here's the official changelog for the latest build: System Improved the smoothness of fingerprint unlocking Optimized system power consumption to extend the battery life Fixed the issue of screen tearing when back
