Brewerton fire crews rescue 2 people in sinking boat on Oneida River Updated May 15, 2021; Brewerton, N.Y. Two people were rescued after their boat began taking on water Saturday in the Oneida River near the Interstate 81 bridge, firefighters said. Brewerton emergency crews responded to the call just after 4:30 p.m., according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches. The boat suffered a mechanical error and began taking on water, according to a Brewerton Fire Department spokesperson. The water was pumped from the boat and it was escorted back to shore, he said.
