National award for Slough charity that met the challenge when Covid struck An 80 year old Slough charity that has provided a lifeline for many during the pandemic has won a national award. Slough Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) scooped a Heart of the Community award from the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action - thanks to its work during the crisis. Ramesh Kukar, chief executive of Slough CVS said: “This year we used all the knowledge we had acquired over the years from networking meetings and listening to grassroots voices to overcome the biggest issue that the world has faced in most of our lifetimes the Covid-19 pandemic.
