First-person slash ‘em up Ghostrunner has been a solid success for 505 Games and Polish developer One More Level, selling over 600 thousand copies to date, and today the two announced a sequel is in the works. It sounds like this follow up will be more ambitious than its predecessor, as it will be exclusive to next-gen platforms and is being made with double the budget or the original (around €5 million). Co-CEO of 505 parent company Digital Bros. Group, Raffaele Galante, had this to say about the new project.

In a press release, publisher 505 Games and developer One More Level have announced that
Ghostrunner 2 is in the works, and the sequel will be developed to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S.

Ghostrunner 2, which it sees as a brand with great potential.

As one of the coolest gaming experiences of 2020, Ghostrunner dropped players into a fast-paced cyberpunk world to live out some intense ninja fantasies. Notable for its outstanding visuals and breakneck pace, it offered a power fantasy unlike any in recent memory. Publisher 505 Games is also bullish on the franchise, so much so that it has announced plans for a Ghostrunner sequel. It is planned for release on PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
In its announcement, 505 Games confirms that developer One More Level will be making a return for the sequel. The original Ghostrunner release sold more than 600K copies since last year’s launch. The critical and commercial success of the game has 505 feeling bullish.

Not only will a PlayStation 5 version of Ghostrunner be out by the end of 2021, but it s also getting a sequel. 505 Games confirmed the sequel is now currently in development, operating with an initial budget of €5 million from makers of the first game One More Level. The announcement comes as it surpasses 600,000 sales worldwide. A release window has not been attached to the follow-up, but with the original title coming to PS5 before the year s end, it would probably be safe to assume Ghostrunner 2 won t be out until 2022 at the earliest.

Ghostrunner is getting a full sequel and an upgraded version of the original on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
Publisher 505 Games, who acquired the IP last month, announced that they have big plans for the
Ghostrunner series following a first game that has sold 600,000 copies since October of last year. Developer One More Level is back on board to develop the sequel.
The original game follows amnesiac hero Jack the Ghostrunner in a quest to discover the past and find out which of the many voices in his head are lying to him. Gameplay mostly consists of rapid-fire yet precise movements along rooftops while utilizing a sword to deflect incoming bullets and slice up the opposition.
