WENN.com Way back when in early 2020, Hollywood––and everyone else––was enjoying its pre-pandemic innocence.  Early 2020 was an exciting entertainment awards season with the Golden Globes kicking things off on January 5th; then came the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA) on January 9th; The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Jan 19th; The 62nd Grammy Awards on January 26th; and ultimately, the awards season big finale: The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony on February 9th. Things were certainly good in the ‘Wood back then, but what we didn’t know at the time is that the 2020 Oscars would be one of the country’s last major entertainment events before lockdown began.

MUSIC (ORIGINAL SONG) Fifteen songs will advance in the Original Song category for the 93rd Academy Awards.  One hundred five songs were eligible in the category.  Members of the Music Branch vote to determine the shortlist and the nominees. NYFA Community Among Shortlist for 93rd Academy Awards After teasing the annual announcement of shortlists for this year’s upcoming Oscar nominations, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences finally announced nine categories of shortlists on Tuesday afternoon. Included among the list in the Documentary Feature category was All In: The Fight For Democracy from NYFA alum and producer Lisa Cortés; Boys State from Documentary Cinematography instructor Claudia Raschke; and Dick Johnson is Dead from Cinematographer instructor John Foster.  The shortlists for the 93rd Academy Awards were announced for: Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Visual Effects.

Here Are The Films That Made The Oscar Shortlists For Animated Short And Visual Effects The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 10-film shortlists for animated shorts and visual effects that will advance in the voting process for the 93rd Academy Awards. Ninety-six films qualified in the animated short category. Members of the short films and feature animation branch voted the list down to ten films, and will now select five nominees. Oscars 2021 unveils nine shortlists including Best Original Song

Thursday, February 11, 2021 The Oscars are coming and to get the buzz going, nine shortlists were released today including the 2021 Best Original Song and Score giving the nod to artists Janelle Monáe, Trent Reznor, Celeste and more. The Best Original Song category includes Monáe s ‘Turntables’, Celeste’s ‘Hear My Voice’ and H.E.R.‘s ‘Fight For You’. Non-musicians shortlisted for Best Original Song are Sacha Baron Cohen (‘Wuhan Flu’ from Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) and Will Ferrell and My Marianne (‘Husavik’ from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga). We don t envy whoever has to read out that category.
