With funds from the federal government beginning to dry up, the United Way in Huron and Perth counties is using donations from the community to support three affordable food programs that have been essential to the region’s pandemic response.
The not-for-profits behind the programs include the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, a regional hub used by food local banks and other community organizations; One Care Home and Community Support Services, the operators of a grocery delivery service for area seniors; and the Community Table, a food hamper organized by a Pentecostal congregation in Exeter.

A local charity finding creative ways to offer overburdened caregivers in Huron and Perth counties much-needed breaks during the pandemic is contemplating the future of a popular program after it ran out of funding last month.
One Care Home and Community Support Services, a not-for-profit focused on improving the quality of life of seniors and older adults with health challenges, has been running something called the Night Away program since last March.
