A lawyer and human rights activist, Tope Temokun, has commended the judgement of the Rivers State High Court which sentenced two officers of the disbanded Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), to death for the extra-judicial killing in custody. The affected officers - Shedrack Ibibio and Magus Awuri, were Convicted and sentence to death by Justice M.O. Opara for killing one Michael Akor and Michael Igwe over an alleged stealing of recharge cards.

The Ondo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police brutality and other related matters has recommended the payment of about N755 million as petitioners’ claims, and other monetary recommendations. The Chairman of the nine-man panel, Justice Salisu Sidiq (rtd), stated this in his address while submitting the committee’s reports and recommendations to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in his office yesterday in Akure, the state capital. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the Judicial Panel was inaugurated by Akeredolu on October 20, 2020 to address issues that led to #EndSARS protest. Sidiq said it received and heard 77 petitions out of which 14 were criminal and 63 were civil matters/petitions.
