CROSSOVER SERVICE: Ondo threatens to jail any church leader who flouts ban

By Dayo Johnson, Akure Ondo state government has threatened to jail any church leader who flouts its ban on crossover services across the state due to COVID-19 pandemic. The state government through the Ondo State Inter-ministerial Committee on COVID-19 had last week directed that the churches and mosques are not permitted to hold any service beyond 10:00 pm, in line with the ongoing curfew. Adding that it was to ensure the state records no substantial case during the second wave of the pandemic. In its response, the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, however, declared that it was not aware of the state government’s directive not to hold the crossover service.

#EndSARS: Ondo Judicial panel to embark on fact-finding On Dayo Johnson – Akure The Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up to look into Police Brutality in Ondo State would be visiting premises of individuals whose properties were destroyed during the ENDSARS protest. In all, a total of 17 persons including organisations have filed a petition seeking compensation for their destroyed properties. The Chairman of the panel, Justice Adesola Sidiq said this in Akure when victims of the ENDSARS protest began the presentation of how they lost valuables during the protest. Justice Sidiq said the panel would be visiting the site of the destruction to see the damage done for proper recommendations.
