By Dayo Johnson – Akure The Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, has absolved the National Assembly of blames over what he described as the lopsidedness in the several appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari during the five years of his administration. Senator Akinyelure lamented that federal appointments are not evenly distributed in line with the principle of federal character under the present administration. He said this in Akure, the Ondo state capital. According to him, “the National Assembly members should be absolved from the blatant disregard of Buhari to the federal character principles in appointments into key positions in the country”.

The motion which was sponsored by Senator Akinyelure Patrick representing Ondo Central Senatorial district called for the end and prohibition of workers casualisation in the public and private sectors. “A bill for an act to provide for the prohibition of casualisation in all forms of employment in the private and public sectors in Nigeria and other related matters.” In his lead debate, the lawmaker regretted how Nigerians have been taken advantage of in the guise of casual staff, insisting that the Nigerian Senate must intervene to stop the anomaly.
