Five rows of cars queued up five deep inside the parking garage of Detroit s TCF Center Wednesday morning. The senior citizens inside those vehicles got COVID-19 shots as the city launched its first mass drive-up vaccine clinic.
Helen Monroe, 84, of Detroit rode shotgun in the blue Jeep Compass driven by her goddaughter, Gayle Hill, and got her vaccine about 10 a.m. So did Hill s mother, Barbara Hill, 82.
The process, Monroe said, went smoothly. I just hope this is going to help us get through this, she said. People are not listening to the recommendations and cases are the highest in this country than anywhere in the world.
