this was the scene in the wisconsin state capitol today. hundreds of people filling the rotunda to protest the shooting death of an unarmed black 19-year-old tony robinson. shooting by a white police officer. many of those heard chanting slogans like no justice, no peace and black lives matter were students from local high schools around the city, as well as from the university of wisconsin. students left their classes there this morning and marched down to the state capitol for a third day of protesting. on friday a veteran madison police officer responded to a call about a suspect jumping in and out of traffic after having assaulted someone. the officer then pursued the suspect, that s tony robinson, into a nearby apartment, and the officer forced his way into that apartment. police officials say the unarmed teenager assaulted the officer before the officer shot and killed him. today the madison chief of police apologized in an online post to the family of the slain teen saying,
2013 was an extraordinary year for the marriage equality movement. same sex marriage became legal in 7 additional states. delaware, pa way, illinois, minnesota, and new jersey and rhode island and it is legal for now in utah. a conservative strong hold and home to the mormon church. on friday a federal judge declared the state s ban on same sex marriage unconstitutional. utah s republican are governor gary herbert criticized the ruling and the state has filed a
part of the reason why so many thought he actually should have stepped down before running for governor. speaking a little legalese, it is all circumstantial. it is convenient, isn t it, just around the same time mcauliffe began running away with the race the cucc s state board of elections decided there were issues with tens of thousands of voter registrations. on october 3rd the virginia democratic party actually filed an injunction to stop these voters from being denied the chance to vote. and this week despite that lawsuit, the republican-led election board revealed actually that it had already purged over 38,000 voters from the rolls. but, hey, that s a relatively small number. a pittance, right? cost of doing business. that s actually what cuccinelli s office said in its court filing. on friday a federal judge rejected the virginia democratic party suit and said they, quote, didn t find any strong showing of any inequitable treatment or deprivation of anyone s rights. uh-huh.
on friday a federal judge criticized the special team and now rudy giuliani is as well. what does he have to say? judge question the authority of the team to prosecute the case and suggested they were civilly trying to use paul manafort in order to get the president impeached. rudy giuliani jumped on the remarks and said, the fact that they robert mueller team handed this off against the presence lawyer michael cohen, they re keeping it against all metaphor suggests they may believe that paul manafort is more likely to turn on the president. today, democrat congressman adam schiff said despite arguments, his confidence that the case against metaphor will move forward. certainly within the judge s prerogative to ask these questions. i don t think it bears on the legal issues. and so i think bob will prevail going forward i don t think that this is really a legal
look at this issue. they have tried to perge the roles. a week ago we asked if you thought the travel ban went too far. on friday a federal judge issued a ruling, and they are canning to immediately restore the pan. up until this point, you avoided explicitly taking a stand on the central and immigration ban, would you offer legislation to carry out the ban through the senate? i don t know that that is necessary. i mean the courts will decide whether or not the execive order of the president that is issued is valid or not. the administration is following
