Last year, the total operating income of Omniva group increased by 10 percent on year to 148.7 million, with operating profits up 68 percent to €16 million. The group's total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2021 was €40.3 million, marking an increase of €10.3 million over the previous quarter.
The new year will bring a radical overhaul in the national post service provided by Eesti Post/Omniva. The changes will include far more automation than previously was the case, with parcel vending machines increasingly replacing post offices. At the same time, human couriers will be available to-order, to replace post boxes.
The state is to more than double support for the delivery of newspapers, magazines and periodicals in remote areas next year, boosting it by €2.75 million and bringing the total subsidy to €4.528 million.
During the current cold winter, it is better if customers come and pick up their parcels from automated package machines as soon as possible, as freezing temperatures can ruin some products.
The current organization of the state postal service is unnecessarily costly and unprofitable and should be updated, the National Audit Office (Riigikontroll) finds.
