Pimrypie, or Pimradaporn Benjawattanapat, unleashed a storm of debate after she released a video clip a few days ago showing her Children s Day gift to impoverished children at Ban Mae Kerb in Omkoi district, on a remote mountain some 300 kilometres from Chiang Mai. In the clip, the online influencer, who commands millions of followers and subscribers on her Facebook page and YouTube channel depicted how underdeveloped the village is, which she described as being one of the country s most remote locations where education is least accessible .

18 A popular YouTube poster and online retailer has come under fire after she donated half a million baht to finance a project to improve the livelihood of children in the mountains of Chiang Mai. The project came about to coincide with the National Children s Day, costing Pimpan Saranrat, more widely known by her YouTube alias of Pimrypie, 550,000 baht, according to her YouTube video clip. The money went into installing solar cell panels, buying shoes and a television for children in the far-reaching pocket of Moo Ban Mae Kerb in tambon Na Kian, Omkoi district, and setting up a vegetable patch in the village which the YouTube user described as one of the country s most remote and least accessible to education locations.

Chayatham Phromsorn, permanent secretary for transport, said 2.5 million people travelled on public transport on Wednesday and early yesterday, which marked the start of the long weekend about 5% less than the ministry had estimated. He added that a total of 3.1 million vehicles, 2.8 million of which were privately-owned, travelled in and out of Bangkok during the period which is 47% above the ministry s estimations.
