Researchers in the United States recently discovered a variant of Omicron in a white-tailed deer in New York, raising worries that the species, with a population of 30 million across the country, could become hosts of the new COVID-19 strain.
"Flurona" is a term coined to describe the condition of being infected with Covid-19 and the flu simultaneously, which alarms many people as COVID-19 cases continue to surge, due to the Omicron variant.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said that the new IHU variant of the coronavirus is currently "not a threat." The situation comes as the new strain, which was first identified near the same time as the Omicron variant, has not spread beyond the Southern Alps of France.
